Behold, Dagobah!

written by IanKelly on Sep 22

I recently bought a 5-gallon aquarium and presently have 2 Goldfish living there. (That’s down from 8 originally but still, 2 is a pretty good number.) Well, imagine my surprise when I was shown the error of my ways!

What do I mean?

Behold, DAGOBAH!

Yep, your very own Dagobah based tadpole aquarium, courtesy Think Geek.

That’s No Moon… That’s a Embroidered Pillow Case!

written by LeviBethune on Jul 22

Alright nerds(not excluding myself), this is the best thing to ever happen to us:

Yeah, that’s all hand-stitched. Take that, haters.

That piece above is part of an art show happening right now, until the end of August 2009 called Stitch Wars.

Triple Venti Nonfat TIE Fighter, Extra Dry

written by LeviBethune on Jul 16

“The ribbing on the drink holders reminded me of solar panels. That instantly registered ‘TIE fighter’ in my head.”

That’s a quote from Wired contributing photographer Dan Winters. The whole story, and run-down of materials used, is on Wired.com. Winter’s craft project has spawned a full-on challenge for Wired readers. They challenge you to build something creative (and geeky of course) completely out of Starbucks swag.

Star Wars Versus Nature

written by LeviBethune on Jun 30

I can’t get over the creativity and ingenuity of Chris McVeigh. He was able to get a Scout Tropper on the back of a Chipmunk.

(slow hand clap)

No special effects here (cough, Episodes 1-3), just really good photography. Bravo sir.

Check out his whole collection on Flickr. He has nods to Indiana Jones, LEGOs, and Batman. Brilliant photographer. Worth the look.

Levi’s Top 3: Stars Wars T.V. Shows

written by LeviBethune on Jun 12

The A-Team was always the one show where I would suffer through the bad acting in order to get to the explosions. Of course, I couldn’t say that about the original trilogy, but… Well, I think you understand. YouTube user AluchePower asks, “What if Star Wars was The A-Team?”

My head nearly exploded with delight and memories, as this fan combined two of my favorite things into one amazing video. YouTube user kalleanka71 answers the question, “What if Star Wars was MacGyver?” This fan also has videos of Star Wars as Airwolf and Dallas.

Inspired by the above display of fandom, YouTube user TheCBVee dares to ask, “What if Star Wars was Magnum P.I.?” Shot for shot, it’s nearly perfect… now if only there was more mustache…

Here is a side-by-side comparison of the two intros:

I’d like to see a Star Wars sitcom intro… Like The Cosby Show, or Family Ties. What would you want to see Star Wars as?

I’d Like To Take Credit, But Won’t

I would like to believe that artist Matt Brown saw the post and comment thread that we had here at FanMadeDotOrg about these works of art and that inspired him to create these Star Wars Matryoshka Dolls:

I would like to remind you, that you saw the idea here first. Of course, it didn’t do us much good now did it?

The Bohemian Electronics

written by LeviBethune on May 18

So, this is what electronics do when we’re away. At least we know they have good taste.

YouTube user bd594 says:

This is dedicated to all fans of Queen and hey let’s not forget about Mike Myers and Dana Carvey of Wayne’s World.

Please note no effects or sampling was used. What you see is what you hear (does that even make sense?)

Atari 800XL was used for the lead piano/organ sound

Texas Instruments TI-99/4a as lead guitar

8 Inch Floppy Disk as Bass

3.5 inch Harddrive as the gong

HP ScanJet 3C was used for all vocals. Please note I had to record the HP scanner 4 seperate times for each voice.

Another video in the same theme would be this Star Wars tune with a floppy drive:

Levi’s Top 3: Lightsaber Fights

written by LeviBethune on May 13

If only these things were real. It’s the perfect weapon/toy. If it doesn’t kill you, it instantly cauterizes the wound… minimal mess.

Ryan Vs. Dorkman reigns supreme on this list, I think that is common knowledge to anyone who has seen them. There are plenty of others out there, so I’m only giving RvD2 a slot in my Top 3, but check out their first film at ryanvsdorkman.com

IAN ADDS: The finishing move on the 2nd video was sick. But the overall action, stunts, and intensity of the 1st video is amazing. Cheers! To those guys.

Beer2d3

Created by flickr user lockwasher, this 16-in-tall droid is made from a slew of metal parts riveted together in elegant fashion.

This was featured on the Official StarWars Blog, and as you can imagine, the droid held a celebration(for droids 21 and up).

The Vader Project

This is a special MAY THE 4TH BE WITH YOU post.

100 Darth Vader helmets re-imagined by some of the top underground and pop artists in the US. That’s 100 VERY talented fans.

The art show is being held at The Andy Warhol Museum in Pittsburgh through May 3rd

My favorite is the Vader of Liberty.
